Burma Update – Lighthouse Refugee Camp

Dear Friends:

Speaking, reading and writing English is a game changer in Burma. Children with English skills get better jobs and have a greater chance of seeking higher education. We are truly blessed to have an incredible servant teaching our children English for the last several months. She teaches our children online and also travels to the camp once per month. In addition, we are currently working on a plan to conduct online training with GOE (Gift of Education) for 12 advanced students.

Assessments begin soon.

Giving, Faith and the Poor

One of my personal goals while on this planet is to give freely to the point that my last check will bounce. To Die Broke is not most people’s life goal. But I personally have found great fulfillment and joy in giving to those in need especially to the poorest of poor where we work. The stench of poverty in the presence of the marginalized is overwhelming at times. Watching videos and viewing pictures does not do it justice. You must come and see!

But of course, how you give is critical to long term sustainability. And at Lover of the Least, we have made mistakes and have learned many lessons on how to optimize our giving for the greater good of the poor. Therefore, we are always striving to maximize funds for the greatest benefit of the people we work with. Investing in agricultural education, English skills and business skills are all part of our sustainable strategy.

We are also convinced that our God is Great and knows our needs. We were reminded recently when watching a commentary on the great man of faith, George Muller, who built orphanages in Bristol, England in the mid 1800’s for thousands of poor children. Pastor Muller never asked for a shilling but, on faith, trusted an all knowing God to supply his needs. It is believed that over $180 Million was given to his ministries over a 60 year span.

Given this example, we have been convicted to never ask for donations to Grace Independent Bible Missions and Lover of the Least ever again. Do we need resources? Of course! We are currently working on no less than 5 projects; 3 in Burma, 1 in Thailand and 1 in Nepal. All need to be funded and three are a matter of long term survival for the poorest of
poor.

If you want to give to our work, feel free to inquire, but we will not advertise, market, promote
“matching” gimmicks or show pics of starving, crying babies!

But we will request prayer:

  • The 5 Burmese Children with Hepatitus B, especially one of them with complications

  • Electricity for our computers and water pump for the well

  • Food and Clean Water

  • Our English Teachers and GOE

  • Our Children’s Safety and Good Health for all

“For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints,
as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until
the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

-George Muller

“The Christian should never worry about tomorrow or give sparingly because of a
possible future need. Only the present moment is ours to serve the Lord, and
tomorrow may never come...Life is worth as much as it is spent for the Lord’s service.”
