Burma (Myanmar) in Crisis:
2024 – The Year of Oppression
Dear Friends:
Our first newsletter is not a letter of Good News for the countries we work (Burma, Thailand, Nepal). And in fact, most of our newsletters will not be the warm and fuzzy Christmas letter or sweet Missionary letter you may be accustomed to. But they will be real, not fake! Our work is on the field where the marginalized and poor live and suffer. And let’s admit our purpose up front. To be ambassadors promoting and living our Lord’s prayer, “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done, on Earth as it is in Heaven”.
We ask you to please never post anything from this newsletter to anyone you don’t know well, especially pictures or videos of the children. Spies are everywhere in the countries we work, on the ground and on the internet. We are all at risk.
Our newsletters will be mostly videos from the field so that you can see the trouble and the pain and suffering. One friend compared us to a National Geographic documentary.
We hope you like the videos and understand the importance of our passion to be a “Voice for the Voiceless and Lovers of the Least”!
Three Years at War: The Least Suffer
Burma is a dangerous place and getting more dangerous by the minute. The Putin-like, China supported Dictator Army General of Burma, Min Aung Hlaing, has just imposed a nation wide draft for men ages 18 to 35 and women ages 18 to 27 resulting in 5000 new soldiers a month or 60,000 a year. There are currently 14 million available draftees in a population of 56 million.
His aim and goal is obvious. To control the hearts and minds and now, the bodies of the youth in Burma through a dictatorial mandate. My friends are concerned and many are leaving the country to escape indoctrination and even death. After all, why does General Hlaing need these soldiers?
On Monday, February 19, our children were tested by a medical group and five of the children tested positive for Hepatitus B. They were sent to the hospital for treatment.
Our group is near Yangon in a small village in the jungle and struggling daily for rice. It will get worse this year. You will not hear about these children in the American and European newspapers or any media. The focus is on sending more aid to Ukraine and Israel. Burma is not on the radar. Thousands more will die this year and Burma will still not be on the radar of western countries.
